FERNDALE FARM

Ferndale Farm is a family-run mixed farm, situated in the village of Little Barningham, in the North Norfolk countryside.

We are home to Ferndale Cheeses , making proper old-fashioned farmhouse cheese. Including the popular Norfolk Dapple, which has become synonymous with the county. New to our range in 2016 is the Norfolk Tawny, a semi-hard beer-washed cheese, also made from raw milk. Tawny won a Bronze Award at the Artisan Cheese Awards 2016, when we were only on our sixth batch!

Norfolk Dapple
is an unpasteurised, clothbound, hard cows’ milk cheese with a dappled rind, in the colours of the Barn Owl’s wing feathers. We also make a smoked version, and two other cheeses called Carrow (flavoured with mustard seeds) and Ruby Dapple (marbled with port). Norfolk Tawny is a softer cheese with a firm rind, created by washing the cheese regularly during maturing in a thick local ale.
Aside from cheeses, we also grow excellent potatoes , available throughout the year, under the Great Unwashed brand. These can be found in many shops around Norfolk, where the name is associated with top quality local produce. We grow five varieties through the season, and grow under fleece to ensure some of the earliest new potatoes in the county.
Our cheeses are sold in many cheese shops and delicatessens in the local region, as well as a small handful of stockists further afield, and can be found on the menus of many Norfolk restaurants. Take a look at our map of stockists here .
